Dan McGuckin started participating in prescribed burns and Western States wildfire suppression in the early 1990s. As an employee of State and Federal agencies, Dan spent months in the classroom learning safe fire suppression and ignition methods. Habitat Solutions offers “rx burn” service to their clients to help them meet property management objectives. Prescribed fire is used to improve wildlife habitat in prairie/wildflower plantings and to help encourage oak establishment in managed forests. Prescribed burns are sometimes condoned just because it seems fun, but there are serious safety, human health and environmental consequences that must be considered before burning. Our staff will guide you through the reasons to burn or not to burn after discussing your objectives. If an rx burn is scheduled we will develop an IDNR approved burn plan and help you prepare the site for the burn. Our burns are executed by Federal NWCG-trained staff, using professional quality equipment to safely execute the burn.
